Angela Caputi started her costume jewellery business in Florence in the 1970s taking classic Hollywood cinema as inspiration. For almost half a century and although she has achieved international recognition, Caputi has managed to stay faithful to her original craft principles, continuing to use resins made in Italy, and setting up the pieces in her Santo Spirito shop-workshop. Caputi has stores in Milan and Paris, and nowadays she is immersed in the launch of her new shop in Rome.
Angela Caputi welcomes me in her atelier in Oltrarno, Florence. This is where she designs earrings, bracelets, necklaces, brooches, and rings. Some are relatively simple; others inspired by works of art, fabric and tissues, emblematic monuments, etc. are quite extravagant. The accesible collection of rings, bracelets, and necklaces made of artificial turtle’s shell remains imperishable. The creative heart of the brand Angela Caputi Giuggiù is located in the historic centre of Florence, in an old building known as ‘Palazzetto Medici’ dated from the 17th century.
Caputi’s designs are based on geometric but soft lines, color in all its shades and nuances, and materials such as plastic resins. The combination of modernity and traditional Florentine craftsmanship makes these jewels a timeless expression of femininity and harmony. The price range goes from EUR25 for clip earrings or a bracelet to EUR180 for a pendant.

Tomando como inspiración las películas clásicas de Hollywood, Angela Caputi comenzó su negocio de bisutería en Florencia en la década de 1970 y durante casi medio siglo ha logrado mantenerse fiel a sus principios artesanales originarios. Caputi continúa usando resinas fabricadas en Italia, y las piezas se siguen ensamblando en su tienda-taller de Santo Spirito.
Con presencia en Milán y en París, e inmersa en el lanzamiento de su nueva tienda en Roma, Angela Caputi me recibe en su atelier de Florencia. Es aquí donde diseña los pendientes, pulseras, collares, broches y anillos de resina. Algunos son relativamente simples; otros se inspiran en obras de arte, tejidos, monumentos emblemáticos… y pueden llegar a ser bastante extravagantes. La popular línea de aros, pulseras y collares de concha de tortuga artificial permanece imperecedera.
El corazón creativo de la marca Angela Caputi Giuggiù se encuentra en el centro histórico de Florencia, en un antiguo edificio del siglo XVII, conocido como «Palazzetto Medici». Sus diseños se apoyan en líneas geométricas aunque suaves, color en todas sus tonalidades y matices, y materiales como las resinas plásticas. La combinación de modernidad y artesanía tradicional florentina convierte a estas joyas en una expresión atemporal de feminidad y armonía. Los precios van de los 25 euros de unos pendientes de clip o un brazalete, a los 180 euros que costaría un colgante.
