There is no doubt that the tabernacles are a key element of the oldest streets of Florence. More than a religious character, it seems to me that they have quite an exquisite kitsch appearance. The city currently houses around 1200 tabernacles, of different styles and periods \u2014\u00a0some are true masterpieces. Catholics fought against heresy not only with preaching, but also by placing sacred images on the streets, houses, shops and public buildings which endure today. In Oltrarno there is still a large number of these particular street sanctuaries, available for a worldly prayer at any time of the day or night. The ancient Romans were already devotees of this form of religious architecture, for they built small temples in the streets with sacred images that protected both the house and the travelers.

Tabern\u00e1culos: street art<\/em><\/a> religioso en Florencia<\/h2>\n

No cabe duda de que los tabern\u00e1culos representan un elemento caracter\u00edstico de las calles m\u00e1s antiguas de Florencia. M\u00e1s que car\u00e1cter religioso, a m\u00ed me parece que tienen un punto kitsch<\/em> muy exquisito. La ciudad alberga en la actualidad alrededor de 1200 tabern\u00e1culos de diferentes estilos y periodos; en algunos casos, se trata de verdaderas obras maestras. Los cat\u00f3licos lucharon contra la herej\u00eda no solo con la predicaci\u00f3n, sino tambi\u00e9n colocando im\u00e1genes sagradas en las esquinas, casas, tiendas y edificios p\u00fablicos que perduran todav\u00eda hoy. En Oltrarno a\u00fan se conserva un gran n\u00famero de estos particulares santuarios callejeros que permiten realizar una plegaria mundana en cualquier momento del d\u00eda o de la noche. Ya los antiguos romanos eran devotos de esta forma de arquitectura religiosa, pues edificaban en las calles peque\u00f1os templos con im\u00e1genes sagradas que proteg\u00edan tanto a la casa como a los viajeros.<\/p>\n
